Megaplex 2100 Application

Megaplex-2100 is suitable for integrating all traffic requirements between two sites, over a wide variety of E1/T1 links: leased lines, fiber optic, HDSL, radio or satellite.

Multiple links support load sharing between the links, as well as automatic backup, with prioritization of data services. A single Megaplex-2100 chassis can support a maximum capacity of up to 4 full E1 or 5 full T1 trunks. Backup links, providing 1:1 protective switching within 50 msec (between links of same ML-2 module) are supported.

For connectivity between three or more sites, Megaplex-2100 supports Drop&Insert and Bypass in "V", ring, and chain topologies.

Enhanced Unidirectional Broadcast capability improves bandwidth utilization for applications with asymmetric traffic. In the application above, the PA announcement is transmitted to all sites using a timeslot in the Tx line only. Meanwhile, the same timeslot in the Receive (Rx) direction, is utilized to carry an alarm signal from one of the sites back to the main site.

Megaplex-2100 provides access to public networks either at the customer premises or at the carrier central office. At the customer premises, Megaplex-2100 aggregates all the various data, voice, fax and LAN transmission. Voice compression allows maximum utilization of the E1/T1 service. At the service provider's central office, Megaplex-2100 distributes the E1 or T1 bandwidth from the SDH or DACS backbone, to multiple customer sites that require low speed or n x 64 kbps bandwidth.

RAD's DXC (DACS - Digital Access Cross-connect Systems) complements Megaplex's own cross-connect capabilities, to provide a comprehensive network solution. DXC enables flexible routing of timeslots between different Megaplex sites, together with an integrated network management for easy control and monitoring.

Megaplex-2100 supports the new V5.1 protocol and can be used, together with the V5PCS protocol conversion server, for connection to local exchanges that use the V5.2 protocol. Each Megaplex-2100 supports up to 60 POTS.
