- Modular, Token Ring,
Ethernet and FDDI connectivity center
- Provides access for up
to 80 Token Ring / Ethernet workstations
- Supports multisegment
topology using UTP, STP, fiber optic and coax cables
- Ethernet support for
10BaseT, 10BaseFL and AUI
- A variety of modules
that provide solutions to different LAN applications
- Automatic fault
recovery and security
- Provides Ethernet
extension to WAN links
- Hot Swap of modules
and redundant power supply option
- In-band and
out-of-band FLASH support
- Customized GUI-based
management via RADview/PC NMS
- In-band/out-of-band
SNMP support
- Connection to an FDDI
backbone is supported by using the RR-FTB Token Ring
to FDDI translation bridge. This dual slot module
plugs into the RADring backplane and connects to the
FDDI from its front panel.
- Improved network
performance is provided through special jitter
attenuation modules, that increase the number of
stations per ring and simplify network design.
ETHERNET EXTENSION TO
WAN
- Ethernet extension to
WAN links is provided by the EP-1T/2W module. This
module enables Ethernet output from two WAN links to
be directed to any Ethernet device such as a
management station.
- The RADring hub, a
compact 3U high, 19" enclosure accepting up to
20 modules is available in several versions: The
RADring hub which supports Token Ring only, and
RADring2 with a clock module that also supports
Ethernet. An optional redundant clock module is
available upon request. Both hubs incorporate one or
two power supplies. The standard power supply
provides 65W and supports most applications.
However, some modules require a high power (HP)
supply of 125W.
CENTRALIZED NETWORK
MANAGEMENT
- The RADview Management
System provides in-band (SNMP) and out-of-band
network management for Token Ring and Ethernet
networks via a user-friendly graphical interface.
RADview enables complete monitoring and control of
the network from a central management station. The
RADring hub requires a hub agent - the CML/NM, and
an SNMP agent - the CML-IB (for Token Ring) or
CML-IB/E (for Ethernet), for full in-band and
out-of-band management.
- The RADview Management
System supports:
- SNMPC HP OpenView professional suite for Windows
- Windows 95 NT version 4
- CML/NM Hub Agent
provides monitoring and control of the RADring hub
and modules. It also provides out-of-band serial
communication with the management station. The
V.24/RS-232 communication link operates multipoint
up to 115.2 kbps for local and remote communication.
The CML/NM agent continues to provide management
functions even when the network is down, ensuring
downtime is kept to a minimum.
- CML/IB
Management Agent supports SNMP protocol, enabling
in-band monitoring and control from RADview or a
generic SNMP management station through Token Ring.
- CML/IB-E
Management Agent supports SNMP protocol, enabling
in-band monitoring and control from RADview or a
generic SNMP management station through Ethernet.
