MEGAPLEX-2100 Modular
E1/T1 Access Multiplexer |
|
| |
- Megaplex-2100 is a
flexible E1/T1 multiplexer, enabling the integration
of multiple dedicated data, Frame Relay data, voice,
ISDN, video and LAN channels onto TDM, Frame Relay,
Fiber or hybrid main links.
- Megaplex-2100's
modular design, together with a wide choice of hub
configurations and I/O modules ensure the
flexibility to support applications ranging from
small campus networks to multi-site corporate
networks or extensive carrier access solutions. Due
to its standards-adherence, central-office-based
cross connect units can separate voice and data,
sending each to the appropriate carrier or service.
- In order to support
the needs of different applications, Megaplex-2100
is available in four different basic unit chassis
variants.
For customer premises
applications the following variants are available:
- Megaplex-2100 (4U high) chassis
- Megaplex-2104 (2U high) chassis.
For rack-mount
installation in carrier and service provider
environments, two additional variants are available:
- Megaplex-2100B (6U high) with connectors on
back (ANSI standard) for the North American market
- Megaplex-2100F (10U high) with connectors
on chassis front (ETSI standard) for the European
market.
Both Megaplex-2100B
and Megaplex-2100F chassis allow swapping modules
without disconnecting cables.
- Redundant common logic
and power supply help to ensure a high level of
system reliability on the Megaplex-2100 hubs. In
addition, all the hubs can support one or two main
E1 or T1 links, e.g. load sharing or drop &
insert and ring topologies or redundancy. The main
links support options of integrated CSU/DSU and LTU,
or direct connection to fiber optic cable.
- To support Frame Relay
together with TDM technology, a special
Megaplex-2100/H version with a hybrid common logic
is available (for MP-2100/4 units only). The hybrid
common logic enables management of the
Megaplex-2100/H with a dedicated time slot over
Frame Relay networks. The Megaplex-2100/H uses two
types of main link cards:
- Hybrid main link card which allows configuration
of each time slot for Frame Relay or TDM
- Regular TDM main link card.
- Megaplex-2100 is
standards-based, ensuring compatibility in
multi-vendor environments worldwide. The E1 and T1
TDM framing and signaling, PCM and ADPCM voice
coding, data interfaces and LAN internetworking all
conform to international standards.
- Megaplex-2100 stores
up to 10 different configuration databases and can
switch between them in case of any network event.
This feature enables alternate routing in case of
failure.
- In addition to ADPCM
and PCM, high quality voice compression using the
MPMLQ algorithm is supported, ensuring maximum
efficiency on the main links. For example, 30 voice
circuits can be compressed down to 5 timeslots,
leaving the remaining timeslots for other
applications such as LAN, SNA and video traffic
