AMC-1 Miniature Universal Media Converter |

- AMC-1, a Miniature
Universal Media Converter, provides transparent
conversion of optical and electrical signals for
ATM, FDDI, Fast Ethernet and other protocols at data
rates up to 155 Mbps. The modularity of the AMC-1
interfaces enables field changeable conversion
between any two media.
- AMC-1 modules provide
cost-effective media conversion without reclocking
for the following ATM rates: STM-1/OC-3, STS-3c,
TAXI (100 Mbps) and STS-1 over optical and
electrical interfaces. Transparent fiber to fiber
conversion is also available for FDDI, 100Base-T
(Fast Ethernet), Ethernet and Token Ring.
- AMC-1 is intended for
applications where two devices with dissimilar fiber
or electrical interfaces need to be connected.
- AMC-1 can also be used
in applications where two similar devices are
connected over a different media type (see Figure
1).
- For applications where
conversion between 100Base-Tx and 100Base-Fx is
required, the ME9 module should be used.
- AMC-1 can be used to
connect two devices over a Single Mode single fiber,
using WDM technology.
- AMC-1 is supplied as a
stand-alone desktop unit with an external regulated
power supply.
