New Software Release for RAD’s Airmux-400 Adds Features and Provides Higher Transmission Speeds Sparks, MD: June 23, 2010: Pulse Inc., the leading supplier of enabling technologies for next generation networks and longtime Platinum partner of RAD Data Communications, today announced that it is supplying the recently announced version 2.4.50 of RAD’s Airmux-400 high-capacity wireless multiplexer, which addresses the needs of service providers in the Carrier Ethernet market.

The Airmux-400 is a carrier-grade, point-to-point transmission system that connects Ethernet, T1/E1 and fractional serial circuits between two distant sites via wireless broadband. Wireless carriers and service providers use the Airmux-400 to extend service to remote/rural locations and facilitate cellular backhaul, emergency services, wireless backup, voice traffic extension over wireless, and loss-less hot-spot backhauling.

The new software release for the Airmux-400 increases throughput to up to 100 Mbps full duplex (200 Mbps aggregated) on the 40 Mhz channel band, with a maximum transmission distance of up to 75 miles (120 kilometers). Key Airmux-400 features also include: • Multiband operation over 2.4, 4.9 and 5.3-5.8 GHz frequencies.

• Single box support for Ethernet combined with 4, 8, or 16-user TDM ports - which helps carriers transition from legacy to IP at their own pace.

• Advanced Encryption System (AES) to safeguard the wireless transmission against possible attack.

• MIMO and OFDM technologies for superior spectral efficiency.

• An advanced spectrum view tool that displays traffic levels in available frequencies, making it easy to identify the cleanest channel for transmission.

• Hub-Site Synchronization (HSS) capability, which synchronizes all radios to transmit and receive simultaneously in multipoint-to-point applications.

• Support for Monitored Hot Standby (MHS), which provides automatic failover to a pre-set secondary link in the event of equipment failure or temporary loss of air interface.

• Selectable antenna modes for different availability and transmission speeds.

“Today’s insatiable demand for mobile bandwidth requires carriers to increase their backhaul capacity, and the Airmux-400 accomplishes this at speeds and a price point that is unmatched in the carrier Ethernet market,” said Salvatore Costantino, President of Pulse. “We’re pleased to work with RAD to supply the Airmux-400, because the flexible and modular design of this unit helps carriers accommodate growth while maintaining profitability.” “RAD and Pulse have worked together for almost 15 years, and our success is based on the fact that Pulse knows the industry well. They’re experts when it comes to our technology,” added Mark Housman, Vice President of Sales for RAD Data Communications. “The principals and all of the staff at Pulse are self-sufficient, dependable, and extremely easy to work with.” Pricing & Availability: The latest version of RAD’s Airmux-400 is available immediately from Pulse, with list prices starting at $3,080 per end. Pulse is currently promoting the Airmux-400 as its “Featured Technology of the Month.” This promotion entitles customers to two years of complimentary RADcare Level 2 technical support, which includes next business day parts replacement, 24/7/365 priority telephone support, free software updates and more.
