| The DNX is a modular
Multiservice Access Concentration platform focused on
the Access Network needs of service providers operating
in, but not limited to, the Wireless and Competitive
Local Access space. The long term vision of the DNX
platform is to become the premiere product in the Access
Network and to furnish service providers with an
evolutionary approach for transforming their Access
Networks from circuit switch to packet and cell based
architectures.
The DNX System Chassis is
available in two (2) models, the DNX-4, which
accommodates 4 application modules, and the NEBS level 3
compliant DNX-11, which accommodates 11 application
modules. Both chassis employ a midplane architecture
that is coupled to a non-blocking switch fabric, which
has been distributed onto each application module. This
approach provides maximum flexibility by allowing the
user to deploy any module to any slot. Additionally,
either the System Manager Controller (SMC) or the System
Manager Controller (SMC) II module sets can be utilized
in both the DNX-4 and the DNX-11.
At its core the DNX
system switching features a narrowband (DS-1 - DS0)
switching fabric. Yet the DNX can transcend traditional
boundaries by incorporating broadband/wideband switching
within the same fabric. In addition, the DNX
incorporates many Integrated Access Device features
which allow for the utmost flexibility in deployment
throughout a network and potentially eliminate need for
ancillary devices within a common location.
