Call Director
allows one dial telephone line to be selectively shared by up
to eight telephone devices (extensions). The caller or calling
device, (modem or fax) selects the desired extension connected
to the CD by sending a DTMF digit, or in the case of a fax,
the CNG tone. After an extension is selected, it will be
automatically rung by the Call Director, allowing the attached
device to answer the call.
Any extension
may initiate a call by simply going off hook and dialing.
Other extensions that try to make a call will get a busy
signal and not interfere with the in progress call.
In addition to
its dial line sharing capabilities, the Call Director can be
used to remotely control other equipment. One set of relay
contacts are provided that can be used in conjunction with
Dataprobe's K-AB data switches or our Power Switching Modules
for control of AC power. This feature allows a caller to turn
on a modem or other device before ringing it for a call,
switch computer ports, or do a remote control power up reset
for computers.
