| The ADTRAN® Total AccessTM
3000 chassis is the foundation for Total Access 3000, an
intelligent system delivering industry-leading,
high-speed digital services. Designed for a wide range
of uses, the 23-inch wide, 6-inch high chassis fits in a
standard 23-inch relay rack. It is -48 VDC powered, and
has an operating temperature range of -40° to +65°C.
An optional heat baffle,
mounted above the main chassis, disperses heat to the
rear of the chassis. The heat baffle also facilitates
optical fiber routing for any optical fiber cards used
in the system.
The chassis offers 28
slots for access modules, two slots for multiplexer
modules, and a slot for a management module. Total
Access 3000 can be monitored and controlled locally or
through TL1 or SNMP.
The System Controller
Unit (SCU) facilitates flexible, economical management.
It monitors the system for alarms, reports alarm status
to the management system, provides a centrally located
point for console access, and provides necessary
interfaces to support SNMP and TL1 management. The SCU
is available in two versions, Standard and Gateway, each
of which is hot-swappable.
The backplane
accommodates I/O connectors, control-signal routing,
power routing, and all interconnections to access
modules. The backplane also provides eight 64-pin
connectors for network DSX-1 and loop access. In
addition, the backplane supports 1:1 automatic
protection switching for each access module for loop
reliability.
Unique to the Total
Access 3000 system, any access slot can use a DSX-1
network interface or a signal derived from the
multiplexer slots. This one system can functon as an
office repeater shelf, a multiplexer or both at the same
time.
