Using a standard line coding, the Express 6100 Series routers can use previously installed telephone wire to connect to a central office at a range of 18,000 feet. ADTRAN Total Reach can be used to extend that range to 30,500 feet without the addition of repeaters.

The Express 6100 Series consists of two products; the 6100 with a 10BaseT interface for data connection, and the 6120 with a built-in 4-port LAN hub. Both units are fully compatible with ADTRAN's FramePort products.

The FramePort product series integrates concentration technology with the latest loop technology to reduce the costs of deployment to less than half of today's costs. The FramePort units may function as a hub in a central office or office park complex, affording concentration to levels of 12:1 over a single DS-1.

The ability to support multiple rates allows the service provider to start a customer at 64k and increase the rate as the customer's bandwidth requirements grow. Customers can pay only for what they need and service providers can be flexible enough to adjust DSL speeds easily.

With IP addresses at a premium, the Express 6100 series products use Network Address Translation (NAT) to conserve addresses. NAT allows the Express 6100 series to simultaneously translate multiple computer LAN addresses to a single IP address. IP addresses can be assigned automatically through DHCP.

The units can be configured with an internal Web configurator or any VT 100 terminal via the EIA-232 maintenance port. Telnet and SNMP are also supported.
